Five Wonderful Opening Credits

Let us be honest and all together agree that opening credits are often a bore. I for one much prefer a film to start without them, having the only credit sequence be after the film’s end. Nevertheless opening credits do exist; here are five that do it well. (YouTube videos)

Dr. No (1962)

Catch Me If You Can (2002)

Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)

Se7en (1995)

Lord of War (2005)

Great picks. But I think Casino Royale has the greatest opening credits of all time (though I love Dr. No). Dr. Strangelove has the most unique credits I’ve ever seen. Funny how you put two “Dr.” movies in the list.

    • I will list another five some time in another post. Dr. No is possibly my favorite Bond opening though Casino Royale would be second to it. I have not seen that movie in some time and have been wanting to, perhaps this week I finally will.
